My Imaginary Friend

Chicago - May 1974 - Age 27

Preface: My teacher of life and love from 1973 and part of 1974 had left Chicago and me for good. I remember as if it were yesterday ... that last day when we said good-bye to each other on the curb outside her 2 story brownstone apartment building. We hugged one last time and I got into my car and drove off. I watched in my rear view mirror as she stood by the curb and waved good-bye.

My Imaginary Friend

She left her brand upon my heart with a kiss good-bye ... She'll never return.

Lips to fire that lady had, lips of the fire that burned. She left her brand upon my heart, with a kiss goodbye, she’ll never return.

Those last few days we spent together, I knew things were coming to an end. For soon she would no longer be my lover, but just my imaginary friend.

Lips to fire that lady had, lips of the fire that burned. She left her brand upon my heart, with a kiss goodbye, she’ll never return.
